This blog began in 2007 as a way to share my experience while living in China and traveling with my friends and family at home. What was originally one year in China became a four year adventure, and this blog continued to grow since I moved to Canada. Part guide, part travelogue, part memoir, I hope it gives people an informed look into places, people and cultures both on and off the beaten path.

In the 16 years since the first post, Zak Abroad has grown into a record spanning most of my adult years, a record of some of the more memorable and significant experiences of my life. If you’re here reading it, I hope you find something in it for yourself too.
