Notes from the Road

About halfway or a little more through the big trip of the school year, with the aid of a 5-week break from work thanks to the Chinese New Year festivities. Kathleen met me in Hong Kong on 12 January, and from there we have since been to Kuala Lumpur, Hanoi, Saigon, Phnom Penh, and now Siem Reap, in Cambodia. Just outside of the town here are the spectacular ruins of Angkor, stones temples ranging between 800-1100 years old and the biggest remnants of the Khmer Empire. They have been amazing to see.

  1. Very impressive ruins. Plus, they let you actually wander among and upon them! In the U.S. they’d be fenced off or otherwise protected from tourists. Heck, if they’ve lasted a thousand years already….
